The Guam Museum is planning an exhibit in January 2025 that will highlight CHamoru wedding traditions and history. In order to make it a success, we are seeking the community’s help.
 
As part of developing this exciting exhibit, we are inviting the community to donate or loan items that have significant historical, cultural or aesthetic value and can help the museum illustrate a variety of CHamoru wedding traditions. This can include, but isn’t limited to wedding dresses, photos and photo albums, invitations, decorations and other memorabilia.
 
As part of the exhibit development the museum is also hoping to collect wedding stories, and not only those that reflect CHamoru cultural traditions of the past, but also the evolving traditions of today. We encourage those that want to share their own wedding stories, or those of their elders, and how CHamoru culture played a role in its various stages, including the courtship, the komplimento the fandango and others.

The deadline for submissions is December 6, 2024.
