🎭 Join us at the Guam Museum Theatre for a powerful live performance that honors our past and inspires our future.
The highly anticipated cultural production I Hinanao-ta (Our Journey) is scheduled to debut its first season during the 2025 Liberation Festivities. This immersive showcase presents a fresh and powerful take on Chamorro heritage through music, song, and dance.
Executive Producer and Master of Chamorro Dance, Vince Reyes, shares that the I Hinanao-ta show is, “a fresh new way to present our culture — it’s dynamic, it’s heartfelt, and it speaks to the spirit and resilience of the Chamorro people.”
Inspired by the current I Hinanao-ta exhibit at the Guam Museum, the stage production brings the island’s rich cultural history to life. Leona Young, Guam Museum Administrator, adds, “This is a very exciting time for the Guam Museum. Guests will experience the transition from the static history of our island to a living, breathing journey of our people. It’s an extraordinary experience.”
The show takes audiences on an emotional and historical voyage, highlighting not only the history of the Chamorro people, but also their strength, adaptability, and cultural evolution.
A casting call held in February brought together passionate artists who have worked diligently to craft a unique, immersive storytelling experience.
With audience interaction and emotional storytelling at its core, I Hinanao-ta is designed to evoke pride in Guam’s unique history and identity. While deeply rooted in Chamorro culture, the show also explores universal themes of resilience, identity, love, and gratitude that resonate with all audiences, whether local or visiting.
Featuring an all-star cast of local musicians, including Microchild, Fluffy Keya Hafa, and Matt Sablan, the show incorporates traditional and era-specific musical elements such as the bilembaotuyan and harmonica, bringing a nostalgic yet fresh sound to the stage.
In an exciting return, several original dancers from Inetnon Gefpa’go have come back to help train and mentor the new cast. The show also benefits from the artistic expertise of Joyce Torres and Breaking Waves Theatre Company, who have provided acting, script, and technical support.
President of the Department of Chamorro Affairs, Melvin Wonpat Borja, remarks, “This is truly a collaboration of amazing young artists. Our goal is to create a show that appeals to residents, visitors, and families alike. We hope I Hinanao-ta becomes a consistent cultural offering at the Guam Museum.”
A successful test run in May received favorable reviews, reinforcing the production team’s confidence in its ability to inspire and entertain.

I loved the finale tying in the Fanoge Chamoru and Senguiya Hao Guahan and the crowd joining in. Felt really powerful.
Loved it!
When the song Ramon San started, it brought back memories of my grandparents stories of WWII. How they were forced laborers by the Japanese.
I walked into the show expecting to be entertained, but what I didn’t expect was to be moved so deeply. From the first strum of the guitar to the final Fanohge CHamoru blend, I felt something awaken in me… something ancestral, emotional, and beautifully familiar and I missed it. I was mahålang.
The show showcased that even throughout our history, no matter who was occupying our island, that we as a CHamoru people kept our identity and culture even through adversity.
Can’t wait for the next show! My family and I loved it!
It was so POWERFUL at the end to sing the fanohge CHamorru and have audience engagement. Power to the creative thought at making it a community ending, which is what being CHamorru is all about— community and inclusion.
I would recommend this production over and over again! I was sooooo moved by its content, and it certainly shifted the way we can think about our identity. Biba CHamoru! Biba Marianas! Biba Y Hina’naotao!
