How do we create safety and security within our community? What do we need to be in right relationship with each other?

To explore these questions, Gi Matan Guma’ is inviting the island community to their MALI’E’ 2025 share-out event, which will take place at the Guam Museum from 11am to 1pm on Saturday, October 4, 2025.

This event is part of the Guam Museum’s HITA Talk series.

In August 2025, artists from Gi Matan Guma’ connected with various communities throughout Turtle Island (the North American continent) through MALI’E’, the organization’s creative research project.

Also known as Kantan CHamurita, the practice of mali’e’ refers to a historic CHamoru artform that involves call-and-response and impromptu verse-making to record life events, history, and improve relationships. Through this practice, MALI’E’ 2025 participants explored connection, grief, and what it takes to navigate towards a better future for all of us.

The community share-out event is free and will feature CHamoru artists, cultural practitioners, and community organizers who will participate in a multidisciplinary ritual performance activation to strengthen community relations and collaboration. During the event, attendees will also be able to purchase artwork from the 2025 MALI’E’ cohort. All are welcome and light refreshments will be provided.
