In March of 2024, Guampedia in partnership with the Department of CHamoru Affairs and the Guam Museum Foundation inaugurated the Marianas Storytelling Land and Lineage Saturday Matinee Series, a program of live and digital storytelling focused on the lands and lineage of the Marianas. Through grant funding made available by the Guam Economic Development Authority’s Series 7 Qualifying Certificate Community Contribution Program and the Guam Medical Regional Center, the Guam Museum Foundation, the Department of CHamoru Affairs and Guampedia are pleased to launch the first storytelling series in 2025 focused on significant archaeological finds monitored by the State Historic Preservation Office of the Guam Department of Parks and Recreation, DNA testing of some of the archaeological finds in the Marianas and the historical context related to our lineage.

The Marianas Storytelling: Land & Lineage Saturday Matinee Series presents live and digital interactive stories that highlight the profound connections between the land and the people of the Marianas.

The firsts program will feature a blend of collective and personal narratives that explore themes of archaeology, ancestry, and cultural memory and engage audience conversations with featured guests in a CHamoru/Chamorro kusinan sanhiyong (outside kitchen).

Following each presentation, featured guests will take a seat at the “kitchen table” and engage in conversation with the audience. This brings to light our CHamoru/Chamorro way of being, sharing stories and learning our ways in the kusinan sanhiyong, the CHamoru/Chamorro outside kitchen.
